1973-1989 Chevy suburbans are nice looking trucks. However, there is a good chance the seat belts are worn. Whether they are discolored, stained, frayed, or the retractors are broken they need to be replaced. This is why Julianos has come up with a kit just for these years of Chevy trucks. This page is a step by step installation on a 1988 Chevy pick up.

This is a 1988 Chevy suburban . After a while the seat belts start to go. The retractors break or the webbing starts to fray or get stained. What ever the case may be, the belts have to be replaced.

 

The first thing that we are going to do is unbolt the retractor. All you have to do is pop off the cap and remove the bolt.

 

Here the retractor is unbolted and ready to come out. Since it is still bolted on the shoulder portion of the belt, you will have to set it aside.

 

Now bolt the L bracket to the same hole as the stock retractor was bolted to using the same bolt. The L bracket allows us to The L bracket is part of the hardware kit that comes with the 3 point belts.

 

Now that the L bracket is bolted in, bolt the new Julianos retractor in. Make sure that you also bolt the black oval shaped bracket to the L bracket too.

 

The next step is to unbolt the stock shoulder bracket. The plastic cover unsnaps to allow you to unbolt it.
